Description

SDC3 (syndecan-3) is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell adhesion, signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. SDC3 is a 442 amino acid (aa) single pass type I transmembrane protein. SDC3 contains an N-terminal signal peptide, a Ser/Thr-rich (mucin-like) 387-aa extracellular domain (ECD) with 6 potential glycosylation sites, a transmembrane domain (TM), and a short 34-aa cytoplasmic tail.  SDC3 is expressed in the nervous system, the adrenal gland, and the spleen.  SDC3 may act as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. SDC3 may play a role in the organization of cell shape by affecting the actin cytoskeleton, possibly by transferring signals from the cell surface in a sugar-dependent mechanism. Allelic variants of the SDC3 gene are associated with obesity.

Construct Details: Full length human SDC3 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
