Description

CRTAM (Class-I MHC-restricted T-cell-associated molecule) or CD355 is a single pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the Nectin family of the Immunoglobulin superfamily (IgSF).  Most Nectin family members function as cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) located on the cell surface and involved with the binding with other cells or with the extracellular matrix (ECM). Nectin4 contains 1 Ig-like V-type domain and 1 Ig-like C2-type domain in the extracellular region that promotes cell-cell contacts by forming homophilic or heterophilic trans-dimers. CRTAM is strongly expressed in spleen, thymus, small intestine, peripheral blood leukocyte, and in Purkinje neurons in cerebellum.  In the immune system, the expression of CRTAM is restricted to activated class-I MHC-restricted cells, including NKT and CD8+ Tcells.  CRTAM interacts with CADM1/Necl2 and promotes natural killer (NK) cell-mediated cytotoxicity and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) secretion as well as NK cell-mediated rejection of tumors expressing CADM3/Necl1 in vivo.

Primers: Gene insert coding sequence can be confirmed by following primers:

(a) forward (or 5'-end) primer: 5’-CAAATGGGCGGTAGGCGTG-3’;

(b) reverse (or 3'-end) primer: 5’-CGGGAAGCAATAGCATGATA-3’

Note: The sequence may vary due to the naturally occurring variants or mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphism, or the artifact during PCR amplification.  High fidelity PCR systems should always be used.
