Description

IFITM5 (interferon-induced transmembrane protein 5) also known as DSPA1 (dispanin subfamily A member 1) and BRIL (bone-restricted interferon-induced transmembrane protein-like protein) is a 2-pass transmembrane protein belonging to the CD225/Dispanin family. IFTIM5 is thought to play a role in bone mineralization. The IFITM5 gene is located on chromosome 11 in a cluster of related genes which are induced by interferon, however, this gene has not been shown to be interferon inducible. A similar gene, located in a gene cluster on mouse chromosome 7, is a member of the interferon-inducible fragilis gene family. The mouse gene encodes a transmembrane protein described as participating in germ cell competence. A mutation in the 5' UTR of the IFITM5 gene has been associated with osteogenesis imperfecta type V (OI5), an connective tissue disorder characterized by low bone mass, bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures after minimal trauma.

Construct Details: Full length human IFITM5 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without an antibiotic selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

 

Vector Type: pLTC or pLTC-IRES-Marker (lentiviral expression vector containing a heterologous CMV promoter +/- a selection marker, see the vector map above)

 

Formulation: Supplied with 10 μg of endotoxin-free plasmid DNA at 200 ng/μl in sterile TE buffer (pH8.0)

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
