Human SCCA1/SERPINB3/T4-A Protein, Biotinylated, Recombinant

SCCA1 (squamous cell carcinoma antigen 1), also known as SERPINB3 (serpin family B member 3) and Protein T4-A, is a cysteine-type endopeptidase inhibitor of the Ov-serpin subfamily of the serpin family. SCCA1 has protease binding and virus receptor activities. SCCA1 is located in several subcellular components, including cytoplasmic vesicle; cytosol; and extracellular exosome. SCCA1 is involved in several biological processes, including autocrine signaling; paracrine signaling, and regulation of protein metabolic process. SCCA1 is restrictedly expressed in esophagus and its expression is closely related to cellular differentiation in both normal and malignant squamous cells.  SCCA1 acts as a papain-like cysteine protease inhibitor to modulate the host immune response against tumor cells. It also functions as an inhibitor of UV-induced apoptosis. SCCA1 is strongly up-regulated in the upper epidermis of sun-exposed skin and can be secreted in plasma by cancerous cells.
