HTR2A (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2A), also known as 5-HT2A/5-HT2AR, belongs to the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor subfamily of the 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) family.  HTR2A acts as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a multifunctional neurotransmitter, and for various drugs and psychoactive substances.  Serotonin binding causes a conformation change in HTR2A that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors.  HTR2A affects neural activity, perception, cognition and mood. HTR2A also plays a role in the regulation of behavior. It is involved in intestinal smooth muscle contraction, and arterial vasoconstriction.  Mutations in the HTR2A gene are associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as response to the antidepressant citalopram in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).

Construct Details: Full length human HTR2A gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
