Description

CD39, also known as ENTPD1 (ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase1) and NTPDase-1, is a two pass, type II transmembrane protein with an extracellular active site that hydrolyzes extracellular ATP and ADP to AMP. CD39 can hydrolyze ATP and ADP equally well. CD39 was originally discovered as a B lymphocyte cell surface marker, but it is also expressed on the surface of natural killer (NK) cells, T cells, neuron tissues and some endothelial cells. CD39 is involved in the processes of thromboregulation and vascular inflammation. In the central nervous system, CD39 hydrolyzes extracellular ATP and other nucleotides to regulate purinergic signaling and transmission. It is also implicated in the prevention of platelet aggregation by hydrolyzing platelet-activating ADP to AMP. The mutations in the CD39 gene cause SPG64 (spastic paraplegia 64), an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a slow, gradual, progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs. The administration of soluble ecto-enzyme of ENTPD1 may have therapeutic potential for treating some vascular and transplantationassociated diseases. Inhibition of this protein's activity may confer anticancer benefits.

Primers: Gene insert coding sequence can be confirmed by following primers:

(a) forward (or 5'-end) primer: 5’-CAAATGGGCGGTAGGCGTG-3’;

(b) reverse (or 3'-end) primer: 5’-CCAGGTTTCCGGGCCCTCAC-3’

Note: The sequence may vary due to the naturally occurring variants or mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphism, or the artifact during PCR amplification.  High fidelity PCR systems should always be used.
