Description

KLRC2 belongs to the killer cell lectin-like receptor (KLR) or NKG2 family of the C-type lectin superfamily, which is a group of single pass type II transmembrane proteins preferentially expressed in natural killer (NK) cells.  NK cells are lymphocytes that can mediate lysis of certain tumor cells and virus-infected cells without previous activation. NK cells regulate specific humoral and cell-mediated immunity. The genes of NKG2 family members form a killer cell lectin-like receptor gene cluster on chromosome 12.  The KLR/NKG2 family is characterized by the presence of a C-type lectin domain in the extracellular region at the C-terminus. KLRC2 forms a disulfide-bond linked heterocomplex with another family member, KLRD1/CD94, and plays a role as a receptor for the recognition of MHC class I HLA-E molecules by NK cells and some cytotoxic T-cells.

Construct Details: The recombinant human NKG2C-Fc protein is expressed as a 362 amino acid protein consisting of Glu98 - Leu231 region of NKG2C fused to the Fc from human IgG1, which exists as a dimer under non-reducing conditions.
