HTR1B (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1B) belongs to the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor subfamily of the 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) family.  HTR1B acts as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a multifunctional neurotransmitter.  HTR1B also functions as a receptor for ergot alkaloid derivatives, various anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs and other psychoactive substances, such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors. HTR1B regulates the release of serotonin, dopamine, and acetylcholine in the brain, and affects neural activity, nociceptive processing, pain perception, mood and behavior. HTR1B is involved in several neuropsychiatric disorders and therefore is often a target of antidepressant and other psychotherapeutic drugs. HTR1B also plays a role in vasoconstriction of cerebral arteries.

Construct Details: Full length human HTR1B gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
