Description

HTR6 (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 6), also known as 5-HT6/5-HT6R, belongs to the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor subfamily of the 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) family.  HTR6 acts as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a multifunctional neurotransmitter, and for various ergot alkaloid derivatives and psychoactive substances.  Serotonin binding causes a conformation change in HTR6 that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors.  HTR6 is coupled to G(s) G alpha proteins and mediates activation of adenylate cyclase activity. HTR6 is thought to regulate cholinergic neuronal transmission in the brain. HTR6 controls pyramidal neurons migration during corticogenesis and acta as an activator of mTOR signaling. Several antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs have a high affinity for HTR6.

Construct Details: Full length human HTR6 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months.
