Description

Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins that preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells.  Cadherins thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.  Cadherin17 or CDH17 is an 832 amino acid (aa) single pass type I transmembrane protein of the cadherin superfamily.  CDH17 contains an N-terminal signal peptide, a 765-aa extracellular domain (ECD) with 7 cadherin domains and 8 potential glycosylation sites, a transmembrane domain (TM), and a 24-aa short cytoplasmic tail. CDH17 is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic duct.  CDH17 is a component of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, acting as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter in the first step in oral absorption of many medically important peptide-based drugs. CDH17 may also play a role in the morphological organization of liver and intestine.

Product Details

Gene Symbol: CDH17; Cadherin-17; LI-cadherin; HPT1; HPT-1; Cadherin17

NCBI Gene ID: 1015

Uniprot Entry: Q12864

Construct Details: Full length human CDH17 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

Primers: Gene insert coding sequence can be confirmed by following primers:

(a) forward (or 5'-end) primer: 5’-CAAATGGGCGGTAGGCGTG-3’;

(b) reverse (or 3'-end) primer: 5’-CCAGGTTTCCGGGCCCTCAC-3’

Note: The sequence may vary due to the naturally occurring variants or mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphism, or the artifact during PCR amplification.  High fidelity PCR systems should always be used.
